C ooper Hewitt permanent collection documents the design process over the centuries with special emphasis on recording creative breakthroughs. The Making/Breaking: New Arrivals exhibition examined how today’s designers turn to conventional hand-worked materials; Micheal’s creative process is detailed in a complete exhibit of drawings, cast-moulds and model, and final artworks which reflect a wide array of influences ranging from mid-nineteenth century Baltimore Repoussé masters to late nineteenth centuryTiffany Japonisme and early twentieth century Art Nouveau design.
